- No charge for the first home visit and care plan.
- No hidden extras. Any mileage for errands or outings is agreed with you in advance.
- Invoiced monthly, for the visits that took place.
- No long contract. You can change or stop your care with reasonable notice.
Paying for your own care
Most people who use home care pay for it themselves, at least to begin with. In England, if your savings and capital are above the upper limit (currently £23,250, not counting the home you live in when you're getting care at home), you'll usually be expected to pay for your own care. You can still ask the council for a free assessment of your needs and advice.
Help from the council
Westmorland and Furness Council can carry out a care needs assessment to see what support you're eligible for, followed by a financial assessment to work out what you'd pay towards it. If you're eligible, you can choose to receive direct payments: money paid to you so you can arrange care yourself, including with us.

- Carer's Allowance can help family members who spend 35 hours or more a week caring. Carer's Allowance on GOV.UK
- NHS Continuing Healthcare may fully fund care for people whose needs are mainly health needs. Ask your GP or hospital team about an assessment.
Age UK and Citizens Advice can help you check what you're entitled to, free of charge.
