Why Fellbeck
- fell
- a hill or stretch of high moorland in the north of England, like Dufton Pike and Murton Pike above our patch
- beck
- a stream that runs down from the fells, like the becks that feed the River Eden through Appleby
Our logo is two fells with a beck running between them. It's a reminder of where we work, and of what we're trying to be: steady, local and part of the landscape.
Why we started
Too many people in rural areas can't get home care when they need it, and too many carers leave the job because they're rushed, underpaid for their travel and never see the same person twice. We think both problems have the same answer: short rounds, small teams, proper pay and time to do the job well.
So we're building a home care company in Appleby that works that way.
Our values
- Unhurried. Care at the pace of the person, not the rota.
- Local. Carers from nearby, on short rounds, so they arrive on time and stay for the whole visit.
- Familiar. The same few faces, week after week.
- Open. Prices in writing, visit notes your family can read, and a manager who answers the phone.
Regulation and accountability
We're applying to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England. We won't provide any personal care until our registration is confirmed. First visits are planned for summer 2027.
